Notes on this view:

This oval woodburytype is mounted to a page that has been roughly trimmed out of the book Men of Mark by George C. Whitfield, published in 1876. The book contains portraits of men distinguished in the senate, the church, science, literature, and art. Woodburytypes are most often found in fine books and are typically small, because the technique involved the use of extreme localized pressure to create a gelatin relief image.
