Notes on this view:

Matte collodion prints were almost always attached to a thick card mount. The colors of these mounts were often a shade of gray that complimented the tones of the finished print. This object is fairly unique because it has a cream-colored mount with an applied wood-grain texture.

The format of this matte collodion print is probably influenced by the popular cabinet card format of the 1890s. Notice that the sitter is tightly cropped in a vignette within an oval frame. This was also a framing style that became popular toward the end the 19th century.
