This print was made by combining two or more images to create the illusion of the man being smaller than the small mantle clock. This is called combination or composite printing. This can be done several ways. Multiple negatives can be printed on a single sheet of photographic paper requiring darkroom techniques, such as masking and dodging and burning. Alternatively, multiple printed images can be cut out and pasted together to make the composition, and then re-photographed.
