This is a real photo postcard, meaning it is a silver gelatin photograph, printed through a negative. Photographic papers with a postcard back could be purchased from any photographic supply company and were popular during the early part of the 20th century. Photographic postcards were made and sold by commercial and itinerant photographers, but were also made by amateur photographers for personal use, such as this. Notice the man and boy are wearing WWI German uniforms.
